Synopsis of Borgen

Birgitte Nyborg is a centrist politician with little clout in Danish politics. Her ambition seems out of proportion to her position: she wants to become the first woman to hold the office of Prime Minister of Denmark. To get there, she will have to negotiate with rivals and allies while the press watches her every move. The story is set in Copenhagen, around Christiansborg Palace, known as Borgen, which houses Parliament, the Prime Minister's office and the Supreme Court. Alongside Nyborg are Katrine Fønsmark, a news anchor for TV1, Kasper Juul, a communications adviser, and Torben Friis, the channel's editor-in-chief. Created by Adam Price, the series airs on DR1 and stars Sidse Babett Knudsen.
