Synopsis of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends

In a world where childhood imaginary friends take physical form and live alongside people, Mac is an eight-year-old boy whose mother makes him separate from Bloo because she believes he's too old for a friend like that. Bloo, however, spots a TV ad for a huge Victorian-style orphanage where imaginary friends end up when their creators no longer need them. Mac takes him there and discovers that the residents can be adopted by other kids. Determined to keep his friend, he sets out to find a way to keep him, while the house, run by the elderly Madame Foster, becomes the setting for everyday situations. Created by Craig McCracken, the series airs on Cartoon Network and features the voices of Sean Marquette, who plays Mac, and Keith Ferguson, who voices Bloo.

Trivia about Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends

The 90-minute special "House of Bloo's" was the highest-rated premiere in Cartoon Network history up to that point.
At the 2005 Pulcinella Awards, the series received the award for Best Series for All Audiences, and Bloo was voted "Best Character of the Year."
Craig McCracken created the series with his partner, Lauren Faust, after adopting two dogs from an animal shelter, which inspired the idea of abandoned imaginary friends.
The voice actors from The Powerpuff Girls Tom Kane, Tom Kenny, and Tara Strong were cast to voice Mr. Herriman, Eduardo, and Terrence, respectively.
The series was Cartoon Network's first production animated mainly with Adobe Flash, using a combination of Illustrator, Flash, and After Effects to clean up, separate, and composite the drawings.
Craig McCracken explained that the scripts were written before the storyboards, unlike The Powerpuff Girls, because the episodes ran 22 minutes and required tighter control over the development of each story.
Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends won five Annie Awards and seven Emmy Awards, earning twelve trophies from 35 nominations.
In June 2024, Cartoon Network approved the preschool spin-off "Foster's Funtime for Imaginary Friends," produced by Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe, with McCracken as creator and Bloo and Madame Foster among its characters.
