Synopsis of King the Land

Won is the heir to The King Group, a luxury hotel, airline and distribution conglomerate. He has everything except a memory of his mother, who disappeared suddenly and mysteriously. Determined to find an answer, he returns to King Hotel in the middle of a fight for control of the family business. There he meets Cheon Sa-rang, an employee who smiles warmly at everyone except him. Won can't stand fake smiles, and that sets the tone for his relationship with Sa-rang from the very first moment. Created by Chun Seong-il and aired on JTBC, the series follows the two as the family mystery and their mutual dislike intertwine within the hotel. Lee Jun-ho and Im Yoon-ah lead the cast.

The first season drew 3.7 million unique viewers on Netflix during the week of June 26 to July 2, 2023, in the United States.

The final episode hit the peak viewership, with a 13.8% national rating and 3.4 million viewers.

The series reached No. 1 in twenty-three countries, including South Korea, Japan, Sweden, Taiwan, Vietnam and Indonesia.

In social media and media presence, Im Yoon-ah ranked first among the actors and Lee Jun-ho came second, ahead of Kim Tae-ri.

The portrayal of the Arab prince Samir drew criticism for stereotyping Arab royalty and linking it to alcohol; JTBC apologized in Korean and English and announced it would edit the controversial scenes.
