Synopsis of Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha

Yoon Hye-jin is a highly professional Seoul dentist whose life has taken a wrong turn. One day, on what would have been her late mother's birthday, she travels to the small coastal town of Gongjin and decides to open a dental clinic there. In town, she meets Hong Doo-shik, a handsome, intelligent man of 35 years old whom everyone calls "Boss Hong." He has no official job, but he can do just about anything and helps any neighbor, no matter their situation. A romance blossoms between them, while the series also follows the lives of the other residents of Gongjin. Created by Shin Ha-eun and directed by Yoo Je-won, the drama stars Shin Min-a and Kim Seon-ho and airs on tvN and Netflix.

«Eventually, we found each other once again.»

Trivia about Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha

The series is credited with turning Pohang into a major pilgrimage destination for Hallyu, the Korean Wave, fans.

It reached a peak nationwide viewership rating of 12,665 percent and ranks among the most-watched series on Korean cable television.

It spent 16 weeks on Netflix's global Top 10 list of most-watched non-English TV series.

Screenwriter Shin Ha-eun was initially hesitant to write the adaptation, because she saw the original character as an almost untouchable cultural icon.

The fictional idol group DOS was originally named Choice, but screenwriter Shin Ha-eun changed it to DOS.

The song performed by Oh Yeon, written by Lim Ha-young in the 1990s, placed second at the Top 10 Gayo in 1993.

The festival scene in episode six was the most important and most difficult to shoot. It required a large cast, unpredictable weather during the rainy season, and strict COVID-19 health protocols.

Kim Seon-ho won the Best Actor Award (Korean) at the 2022 Seoul International Drama Awards for his performance in the series, but he did not attend the ceremony due to scheduling conflicts and thanked the honor in a video instead.
