Synopsis of The Boarding School

Marcos arrives at the Laguna Negra boarding school with his younger sister, Paula, after their parents disappear at sea. The two Galician siblings are placed under the care of the headmaster, Héctor de la Vega, played by Luis Merlo. Soon after, María, a new cleaner, also joins the life of the school. Alfonso trusts Vicky and Carol with a secret: the boarding school is dangerous, and they have to get out of there at any cost. Thus begins a mystery story set in a closed school, where several characters seem to be hiding part of the truth. The series, created by Daniel Écija and aired on Antena 3, features a cast led by Martiño Rivas and Marta Torné.

Trivia about The Boarding School

The exterior scenes were shot at the Campus de Ciencias de la Vida in La Berzosa, part of Universidad Nebrija, in Hoyo de Manzanares, Madrid.
Marta Torné was only supposed to play a supporting character, but María's popularity grew so much that her role was expanded considerably.
The surname of Héctor de la Vega, played by Luis Merlo, may allude to La Vega, a place linked to the occult and mystery.
The series was very popular in Italy, France and Latin America, where it was often compared to Lost.
In April 2013, it made The WIT's list of the best TV formats of the last 50 years, as the only Spanish production on the list.
The passage of time forced the writers to adapt the script to the characters' physical changes, because the actors were growing up very fast.
The premiere drew 4,814,000 viewers and a 27% audience share; the final episode also set a record, with more than 3.4 million viewers and a 19.2% share.
Filming of the first episode dragged on for five weeks, which delayed later recordings and led to complaints from students and teachers about the collapse of the university facilities used.
