Synopsis of The Bridge

A body turns up in the middle of the Øresund Bridge, which connects Malmö with Copenhagen, right on the border between Sweden and Denmark. Because the discovery falls on the line dividing the two countries, the investigation falls to the police on both sides. Saga Norén, a Malmö homicide detective who struggles to connect with others, and Martin Rohde, her Danish counterpart in Copenhagen, must work together. What starts as an isolated case leads them to hunt an unknown killer who wants to expose society's biggest problems to everyone. Created by Hans Rosenfeldt, the series aired on SVT1 and DR1 and stars Sofia Helin.

Trivia about The Bridge

In 2014, the series won two Golden Nymph awards: for Best European Drama Series and for Best Actor in a Drama for Kim Bodnia.

The Bridge was the first series created and financed jointly by Sweden and Denmark, which set it apart from other productions of its time.

The opening and closing credits use a excerpt from "Hollow Talk" by Copenhagen-based Danish chamber pop band Choir of Young Believers.

The Daily Telegraph reported in February 2014 that the series was being watched in 174 countries.

In Australia, the first episode, which aired on SBS Two, drew 101,000 viewers in its preliminary overnight ratings.

The series won the International TV Dagger in 2012, awarded by the British Crime Writers' Association for the best international television production in the crime and suspense genre.

Hans Rosenfeldt confirmed that the fourth season would be the show's last. The series ended after six years on air.
