In Gotham City, Batman steps into a hostage situation orchestrated by a criminal known as Two-Face. The vigilante manages to foil the plan, but the villain escapes and leaves behind a threat the Dark Knight cannot ignore. A TV report reminds viewers that this criminal was once district attorney Harvey Dent, the victim of an attack during a trial. That past weighs on the vigilante, who once again faces an enemy he knows all too well. As the city remains in shock, Batman examines the clues left by the fugitive and prepares for whatever comes next.

Trivia about Batman Forever

The suit that Val Kilmer wore as Batman was later reused by Christian Bale at their audition for Christopher Nolan, according to the film's production notes.

"Kiss from a Rose" by Seal reached number 1 on the United States charts, and its music video was also directed by Joel Schumacher.

The trailers and TV spots for Batman Forever used the main theme from Danny Elfman from the 1989 film, although Schumacher had asked Elliot Goldenthal for an original score.

Batman Forever reached 100 million dollars in the United States in just ten days, tying Batman as the fastest Warner Bros. movie to hit that figure.

Schumacher described Kilmer as "childish and impossible" and said the actor refused to speak to him for two weeks after he asked him to stop being rude.

In its first week, VHS copies of the movie sold over 3 million units in the United States.

Warner Bros. acquired motion capture technology from arcade video game company Acclaim Entertainment to use in the production of the movie.

Rene Russo was originally cast as Chase Meridian, but was replaced by Nicole Kidman when Val Kilmer took on the role of Batman.

Quotes by Batman Forever

One man is born a hero, his brother a coward. Babies starve, politicians grow fat. Holy men are martyred, and junkies grow legion. Why? Why why why why why why? Luck! Blind, stupid, simple, doo-dah, clueless luck!
[sees Bruce Wayne entering from cubicle] Oh my God, it's him! [to himself] I am a winner. I am a winner. I am a winner. I am a winner.
I'm Batman. [thugs laugh at him] Hey, so I forgot my suit, all right?
Broken wings mend in time. One day, Robin will fly again.
[After flipping his coin to decide whether to kill someone] Ah, fortune smiles. Another day of wine and roses, or in your case, beer and pizza!
[after knocking out Stickley with a kettle] Caffeine'll KILL YA!
