Belder and Prymaat are envoys from Remulack, a planet 26 light-years from Earth. They belong to a civilization that seeks to expand its empire by enslaving peoples of other worlds. Their mission: to conquer our planet. But an accident forces them to land on Earth ahead of schedule, where they try to stay under the radar and avoid the agents hunting them. They find a measure of safety in Paramus, New Jersey, where they become a typical hardworking family with a daughter.
