Synopsis of Dinosaurs

The Sinclairs are a family of anthropomorphic dinosaurs living in a prehistoric world very much like 1990s American society. They have televisions, appliances, cars and utensils, and they behave like people. The story is set in 60,000,003 B.C., in the territory of Pangaea. Earl Sinclair works pushing trees for the Wesayso company alongside his friend and coworker Roy Hess, under the supervision of his boss, Bradley P. Richfield. At home he is joined by his wife Fran, their three children and his mother-in-law Ethyl, and the family tries to live a middle-class life. Dinosaurs is a family sitcom created by Bob Young and Michael Jacobs and aired on ABC. Using satire of everyday life as its thread, the series follows the Sinclairs' daily concerns, from Earl's job to raising their children.

Trivia about Dinosaurs

Jim Henson conceived the series in 1988, according to an article in The New York Times, and wanted it to be a sitcom about a family of dinosaurs.
Actor Stuart Pankin recalled hearing that it was the most expensive half-hour program on television, at least at that time.
According to Michael Jacobs, the premiere's success was the reason the network barely interfered with the production.
The television division of Walt Disney began working on the series in 1990 for CBS, before it ended up on ABC.
The fourth season earned the strongest critical praise, with a 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The series won the 1991 Emmy for Outstanding Art Direction for the episode "The Mating Dance" and received another award at the 1992 Environmental Media Awards for "Power Erupts."
After moving from Friday to Wednesday, "Dinosaurs" remained the most-watched series among children aged 2 to 11, although it dropped to 43 in overall ratings among 93 programs.
Before the fourth season, the writers learned that the series would be canceled and planned their final episodes around that expected ending.
