Trivia about Into the Woods

Hairstylist Peter King decided to weave 27 strands of real hair into a 30-foot braid to create Rapunzel's mane.

The song "She'll Be Back" was actually filmed, but it was cut for being seen as slowing down the story, and was later included as an extra on the home video release.

Disney financed the film with a relatively modest budget of 50 million dollars, which forced actors and crew to accept pay cuts.

Johnny Depp accepted a supporting role for 1 million dollars, compared with the 20 million they usually earned as a lead.

With 31.1 million dollars in its opening weekend, it posted the best debut ever for a film based on a Broadway musical, a record it held until 2024.

More than 90% of the film's vocal tracks come from recording sessions held in the studio before the scenes were shot.

«Into the Woods» received three Oscar nominations for 2015, for Meryl Streep, costume design and production design, though it didn't win in any of those categories.
