No Turning Back

Ivan Locke is a calm construction foreman who has worked hard to lead an orderly life. Tomorrow he must be in Birmingham to oversee a massive concrete pour, and everything is planned. He leaves work late in the afternoon and gets into his car to begin the drive. While he is on the road, an unexpected phone call completely upends his plans. Locke must decide between keeping the commitment he has for the next day and attending to what is being demanded of him on the other end of the line, while his wife and sons wait for him at home. From the driver's seat, with only the voices of those calling him, he begins to make decisions he never planned for.

Trivia about Locke

Filming lasted six nights, and the crew only stopped to swap the memory cards of the three cameras, according to the production details recorded on English Wikipedia.

Tom Hardy won the Los Angeles Film Critics Association award for Best Actor in 2014 for his performance as the lead character.

On Rotten Tomatoes, 91% of the 216 critic reviews are positive, according to the aggregator cited in the movie's English-language profile.

Critic David Thomson included Locke in his book How to Watch a Movie, published in 2015, and singled out the film among the best of recent years.

The stage adaptation is performed in real time and runs about 70 minutes, with a single celebrity on stage who speaks over the phone.

Steven Knight wrote the role of Ivan Locke specifically for Tom Hardy after meeting him through another project; the two got together in November, the script was written over the Christmas holidays, and filming began in February.

To prepare the phone conversations, the cast spent five days reading the script around a table, and then the actors recorded their lines from a hotel room through a phone line connected to the car.

The edit started from more than 68 hours of footage, captured over 16 complete takes with three cameras, and the film grossed approximately $1.4 million at the box office.
