They rocked. They took over. Then they sank.

England, 1966. Carl, a seventeen-year-old boy, has just been expelled from school, so his mother decides to send him to stay with his godfather, Quentin. There, he discovers that Quentin runs Radio Rock, an underground station that broadcasts music from an old ship anchored in the North Sea. On board live eccentric DJs, each with their own ideas about radio and rock. While the British government tries to shut down the pirate stations, Carl faces a life without schedules or rules, very different from the discipline he left behind. The film is directed by Richard Curtis and stars Tom Sturridge, alongside Philip Seymour Hoffman and Bill Nighy.
