The Martian

Astronaut Mark Watney, a botanist and mechanical engineer, is presumed dead and left behind on Mars when the crew of the Ares 3 is forced to evacuate its landing site and return to Earth due to an emergency. Alone and without his crew, he must survive and find a way to get back to Earth before his supplies run out. While his fellow astronauts believe he has died, NASA discovers through a satellite that he is still alive and begins working on his rescue, keeping it secret from the rest of the crew.
