In 16th-century England, sisters Mary and Anne Boleyn live in a country house far from London. Their family sees them as an opportunity: if they win the favor of King Henry VIII, the family name will gain power and influence. Both must prepare to enter the court, a place where every gesture is watched and every word counts. Both want to catch the monarch's attention, but they also want to outdo each other. The rivalry between them begins right away, and the desire to be the favorite starts to outweigh the bond that unites them. The film, directed by Justin Chadwick and starring Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson, focuses on that rivalry and on the atmosphere of a court that watches their every move.

(furious, to Anne) I have torn this country apart for you!
(crying) What will the King say when he finds out that I cannot bear children?
(to Anne) You have reached too high.
I'm asking you because I trust you.
Younger than me, more beautiful than me, married before me. I'm eclipsed. I'm the other Boleyn girl.
(earneslty) I gave myself to a man I loved, and he loved me.
