Synopsis of Generation War
Berlin, summer 1941. Shortly before Germany invades the Soviet Union, five friends in their early twenties throw a party in the city and promise to meet again the following Christmas. Wilhelm is a respected, decorated career officer. His brother Friedhelm, a young intellectual with no interest in military life, is also a Wehrmacht soldier. Charlotte is preparing to work as a war nurse, Greta dreams of making it big as a singer, and Viktor, who is Jewish, wants to become a tailor in his father's workshop, a victim of Nazi persecution. The miniseries, created by Philipp Kadelbach and aired on the German broadcaster ZDF, follows how these friends' plans collide with a war that advances over their lives.
