Synopsis of Gurren Lagann
Gurren Lagann is set in a future where the Spiral King, Lord Genome, rules the Earth and forces humanity to live in isolated underground villages, cut off from the surface and from other settlements. There, under the constant threat of earthquakes, the diggers dig deeper and deeper. Simon is a shy young man who works at this task in the village of Jiiha, where he lives with Kamina, his best friend, an eccentric delinquent who dreams of visiting the surface as his father once did. One day Simon finds a drill-shaped key, called the Core Drill, and later a small Gunmen. Soon after, a giant Gunmen breaks through the ceiling and begins attacking the village. The series, created by Hiroyuki Imaishi and broadcast by TV Tokyo, explores the desire of both of them to escape their world.
