Synopsis of Los Serrano

Diego Serrano is a widower raising his three children, Marcos, Guille and Curro, alone in the Madrid neighborhood of Santa Justa, next to the Manzanares riverbank. Lucía Gómez is a divorced woman with two daughters, Eva and Teté. One day, on her way to the beach, Lucía's car gets a flat tire, and the man who stops to help her turns out to be Diego, her first boyfriend from her youth. Their reunion rekindles a story that seemed forgotten and forces both families to consider what it means to start over with each other's children. The series, created by Daniel Écija and Álex Pina, airs on Telecinco and stars Antonio Resines and Belén Rueda.

Trivia about Los Serrano

The series was the most-watched show in Spain in 2004 and consistently held the ratings lead in its time slot.

The series won the Ondas Award for Best Spanish Series, as well as the Micrófono de Oro Award, the Fotogramas de Plata Award, the Zapping Award and an award from the Academy of Television.

Fran Perea, who plays Marcos, sings the theme song, "1 plus 1 equals 7," which he later recorded for the record label Dro as his first single.

In 2005, after Fran Perea's departure, the youth group Santa Justa Klan was formed, made up of the characters DVD, Boliche, Guille and Teté, who released two albums.

The band El sueño de Morfeo became known thanks to Raquel del Rosario, who played the lead singer.

The episode «Los puentes de Burundi», which aired on April 1, 2004, was the most-watched episode of the series, with 8,191,000 viewers and a 43.3% audience share.

Antonio Resines explained that the cast was exhausted by the end of the series and that continuing the story with some younger characters was considered, but the idea proved too complicated.

In 2026, Fran Perea said he was pushing for a follow-up set twenty years later, with the tavern turned into a gastropub run by a new generation, although no project had been finalized yet.
