Trivia about MINDHUNTER

David Fincher considered television to be a medium "completely foreign" to them until they worked on House of Cards, for which they co-produced and directed the first two episodes.

The character of Wendy Carr is fictional, though she is based on forensic nursing researcher Ann Wolbert Burgess, a nursing professor at Boston College.

The serial killer characters are based on real convicted criminals, and the dialogue in the prison scenes comes from real interviews.

David Fincher explained that the series had a very passionate audience, but that it never reached the numbers that would justify its cost.

The first season ranked number 10 on Metacritic's year-end list of the best series of 2017.

The second season was supposed to have eight episodes, but the final count rose to nine.

After the second season, Netflix released Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany, and Anna Torv from their contracts; the third season was put on indefinite hold and never got made.
