Looking for a jerk to break up with

Peter Klaven is a real estate agent who works in Los Angeles and lives with his girlfriend, Zooey, in a relationship that seems to be going well. Despite the economic crisis, his situation largely depends on the commission he'll earn if he manages to sell a large mansion owned by actor Lou Ferrigno. Peter is confident and ambitious, convinced that this deal will bring him stability. Trivia about I Love You, Man

One of the daughters of former Egyptian president Anwar Sadat filed a lawsuit in Egypt against the filmmakers because in the movie, Sydney's dog is named after her father.

The script, titled Let's Be Friends and originally written by Larry Levin, was bought by the studio but went unused for about 11 years before the movie was filmed.

The band Rush agreed to appear in the movie after John Hamburg, a big fan of the group, pressed them to do it. Filming had to fit into a single day off between two concerts on their tour.

J. K. Simmons has a clause in his contract requiring him to appear in one out of every four movies that get shot, Hamburg joked.

The movie generated more than 22 million dollars in DVD sales through November 2009.

The poster showing Peter lying on the bed reuses a photo of Paul Rudd originally published by Rolling Stone in 2006.

Matt Walsh reprised the character of the impatient golfer from the "Ass Pennies" sketch created by the comedy group Upright Citizens Brigade, wearing the same outfit as in that 1990 bit.

The movie grossed 17.8 million dollars from 2,711 theaters during its opening weekend in the United States and finished second at the box office.
