Human. Wild.

Years have passed since Tarzan left the African jungle to settle in London as John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke, with his wife, Jane. He leads a comfortable life, far removed from his roots. One day he receives an invitation from King Leopold of Belgium, who asks him to travel to the Belgian Congo to see what has been accomplished there for the country's benefit. He is also asked to act as an envoy for the commercial interests of the British Parliament. Clayton is reluctant to return to a place he left behind, and the decision pits him against a dilemma between his present life and the past he tried to leave behind. The movie is directed by David Yates and stars Alexander Skarsgård.

Trivia about The Legend of Tarzan

For a time, producer Jerry Weintraub wanted swimmer Michael Phelps to play the lead, believing him to be an heir to Johnny Weissmuller, who had also been a competitive swimmer.
Weintraub reportedly changed his mind after seeing Phelps host Saturday Night Live for just two minutes.
Although the movie was shot almost entirely in England, the crew spent six weeks in Gabon, where they filmed background footage from a helicopter without the cast.
Seven versions of the African jungle were built for the shoot, each with a different landscape to show different settings.

Quotes by The Legend of Tarzan

  • The Tekes say an elephant's eyes speak the greatest language. Who else can make you feel so much without a word?
  • Stop shooting! You'll hit the girl! [watching her get away] That woman...
  • People love a good story. Yeah, few are born blue bloods like your husband. But everyone can relate to a low born scrapper who rescued his king from bankruptcy and saved the honor of his nation. That is a man who will never be forgotten.
  • Farewell, sweet lord. Take Tarzan with you. The future belongs to me.
