In March 1991, just after the Gulf War has ended, a group of American soldiers remains stationed in the Iraqi desert. Among them is Captain Archie Gates, in command of a unit that gets bored between nighttime parties while waiting for orders to go home. The film opens with a chaotic firefight in which Sergeant Troy Barlow shoots an Iraqi soldier who was trying to surrender, an act that wins him the admiration of his comrades. The lack of action and the prospect of civilian life, which doesn't excite them, push the men to look for something to do. Directed by David O. Russell, the film brings together George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg, Ice Cube and Spike Jonze.
