Synopsis of The New Batman Adventures

The New Batman Adventures is an animated series from Warner Bros. Animation that continues Batman: The Animated Series and airs on The WB network as part of its children's block, Kids' WB. The action takes place in Gotham City, where Batman battles the villains from his rogues' gallery, such as the Joker, Catwoman and the Penguin. The hero works alongside a group of partners, including Robin, Nightwing and Batgirl, who get more of the spotlight than in other series featuring the character. Batman keeps a serious, austere tone against a much lighter cast, and the team faces threats that test their bond and their methods on the city's streets.

Trivia about The New Batman Adventures

Producer Paul Dini explained that Batgirl would appear in every episode because Kenner wanted to launch a toy line and the team wanted to capitalize on the publicity from her role in Batman & Robin.

Fans did not like the new design of the Joker, so it was redesigned again in Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, Static Shock and Justice League.

Bruce Timm said that while working at Fox, they received five pages of notes on what they could not do for each storyboard, whereas at The WB they usually received about two paragraphs.

Koko Enterprise, TMS-Kyokuchi and Dong Yang Animation contributed part of the series' animation.

The series never aired in Spain when it came out, so it had no European Spanish dub until its arrival on Netflix in 2024.

The series received six awards and ten nominations, including an Annie in 1999 for Glen Murakami for production design on the episode "Legends of the Dark Knight."

"Gotham Knights" was a working title used during development, but the studio ultimately officially adopted "The New Batman Adventures."

Production ended after 24 episodes because Warner Bros. pushed Batman Beyond to introduce a new version of Batman, a decision that replaced this series.
