Nicholas Angel is a Metropolitan Police officer in London with an spotless service record. His efficiency is such that his colleagues look bad by comparison, and his superiors eventually see him as a problem. So they transfer him to Sandford, a quiet village in Gloucestershire where, at first glance, nothing ever happens. Angel arrives determined to stay the cop he is, but the town's slow pace and the way his new colleagues work clash with his understanding of the job. Directed by Edgar Wright and starring Simon Pegg, the film kicks off with this forced move and with a cop who refuses to lower the bar.

Trivia about Hot Fuzz

Before completing the script, Wright and Pegg watched roughly 138 cop movies and conducted fifty interviews.

Nick Frost agreed to take part only if he could name his character, and chose "Danny Butterman."

The song "Here Come the Fuzz" was written specifically for the film by The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion.

Robert Rodriguez composed part of the score without having seen the rest of the film.

In its first weekend in the United States, it topped the 3.3 million dollars earned by Shaun of the Dead.

In the UK, more than one million DVDs were sold in the first four weeks.

The final cut of "Hot Fuzz" contains more than 5,500 edits; the first version ran two and a half hours, so about thirty minutes were cut before the director's cut.

The fictional town of Sandford was filmed in Wells, Somerset, a place linked to Edgar Wright's childhood, and its name comes from the sets British police use in their training exercises.
