Synopsis of Pam & Tommy

Pam & Tommy is a biographical drama miniseries streaming on Hulu. Lily James plays Pamela Anderson, and Sebastian Stan plays Tommy Lee, the drummer of Mötley Crüe. Set in the 1990s, it follows the couple's turbulent marriage, a relationship caught between fame and private life. During their honeymoon, the pair records intimate moments on a houseboat on Lake Mead. Those images, meant only for them, slip out of their control and end up as a sex tape that spreads without their consent. The series explores what happens when the private life of two celebrities becomes a commodity, and how they try to win back what they have lost.

Trivia about Pam & Tommy

Sebastian Stan spent hours having up to 30 tattoos painted onto his skin, in addition to growing out and dyeing his hair for his role as Tommy Lee.

The costumes were not custom-made. They were bought secondhand, following the clothes Anderson and Lee wore between 1995 and 1998.

Nielsen Media Research recorded 312 million minutes of viewing for the series on U.S. television screens.

In January 2022, it was revealed that Jason Mantzoukas voiced the penis of Tommy Lee in a supporting role.

The series received ten Primetime Emmy Award nominations, including one for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.

The series is based on a 2014 Rolling Stone article about the theft of the tapes.

Lily James wore a forehead prosthetic that raised the hairline by three centimeters, along with a wig, fake eyebrows, dentures, blue contact lenses and body prosthetics to play Pamela Anderson.

Filming began on April 5, 2021 in Los Angeles and wrapped on July 30 of the same year, after eight episodes produced as a limited series.
