Synopsis of Nobody Wants This

Joanne Williams is an agnostic woman with a short temper who doesn't beat around the bush. She co-hosts a relationship podcast with her younger sister, Morgan. Her life changes when she meets Noah Roklov, a young American rabbi who hopes to be promoted to senior rabbi of his synagogue. Noah has just ended a long relationship with a Jewish woman, and the spark between him and Joanne pulls them into two very different worlds. Created by Erin Foster, the series streams on Netflix and stars Kristen Bell and Adam Brody as Joanne and Noah. They are drawn to each other from the start, but their differences in beliefs and outlook on life put any chance of romance to the test.

Trivia about Nobody Wants This

Netflix greenlit the series in March 2023. It is loosely based on the real-life experiences of its creator, Erin Foster.

Glamour published an essay accusing Jewish characters of being controlling, and Erin Foster defended a young, attractive, marijuana-smoking rabbi as the lead.

Netflix renewed the series for a second season in October 2024, with Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan taking over as showrunners from Erin Foster and Craig DiGregorio.

Season one features songs such as "Levitating" by Dua Lipa and "Love on the Brain" by Rihanna.

Season two earned three Golden Globe nominations: for Adam Brody, Kristen Bell, and the series itself in the comedy or musical category.

Leighton Meester, Miles Fowler, Alex Karpovsky and Arian Moayed joined the cast of the second season.
