Ugly Betty

Betty Suárez is a young woman from Queens, New York, with a big heart, plenty of courage and an innocence that keeps her far removed from any notion of fashion. Even so, she lands a job at Mode, a trend magazine based in Manhattan that is part of the Meade publishing empire, presided over by Bradford Meade. There, everything feels alien to her: the glamour, the fierce competition and the looks from those who think she doesn't fit in. Her new boss is Daniel Meade, the tycoon's son, recently named editor-in-chief of the publication. Betty will have to learn to navigate hallways where ambition weighs more than kindness. Wilhelmina Slater, the creative director, has coveted Daniel's post for years and has no intention of sitting idly by. The series, created by Silvio Horta and broadcast on ABC, stars America Ferrera and explores the clash between Betty's simplicity and the world of high fashion.
