Monster

Based on a true story. Aileen Wuornos is a sex worker who was executed in 2002 in the state of Florida after confessing to six murders, including a police officer. Aileen claimed she had killed in self-defense, in response to the violent attacks she suffered while working as a prostitute. On the edge of despair and suicide, she meets Selby Wall, a young lesbian who has been sent by her parents to live with her aunt to “cure her homosexuality,” one day at a bar. Wuornos, a victim of a tragic childhood full of abuse, quickly falls in love with Selby, finding in her a reason to live. Unable to find decent work, Wuornos continues working as a prostitute. When one of her clients abuses her, she kills him in self-defense, beginning a tragic chain of murders. This is the story of a killer, but also a love story between two misfits.
