Synopsis of Siren

Bristol Cove is a small coastal fishing town known for an old legend that says its waters were once home to mermaids. The town's calm is shattered when Ryn Fisher, a mysterious young woman played by Eline Powell, arrives and unsettles the community as she searches for her older sister, Donna, who was captured by the local military. Marine biologists Ben Pownall, played by Alex Roe, and Maddie Bishop, played by Fola Evans-Akingbola, work together at the marine research center to find out who or what is hiding behind this creature. The locals distrust the newcomer, and fisherman Xander McClure, played by Ian Verdun, wants to uncover the mystery. The series, created by Dean White, Eric Wald, and Nick Copus, airs on Freeform.

Trivia about Siren

In July 2016, Freeform ordered a pilot titled The Deep, based on a story by Eric Wald and Dean White.

Eline Powell joined the cast in August 2016 to play Po, a character who was later renamed Ryn.

The music includes "Siren Call," composed by Michael A. Levine and performed by singer-songwriter Mariana Barreto.

The first episode premiered at New York Comic Con in October 2017, months before its television debut.

The first season has a 95% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with 20 reviews and an average score of 8.0/10.

In the UK, the first season aired on the SyFy channel starting May 3, 2018.

Freeform canceled "Siren" in August 2020 after three seasons and 36 episodes, so the series never got a fourth season and ended without a finale designed specifically to wrap up the story.

Filming took place in Port Moody, in British Columbia, Canada, and the pilot was shot before the remaining episodes, in October 2016.
