Synopsis of Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny

After General Kai's defeat, Dragon Warrior Po returns to action with a different mission. Now he must teach Kung Fu to four panda cubs: Nu Hai, Jing, Bao, and Fan Tong. The little ones discover a mystical cave beneath Panda Village, and something unexpected happens there. Without meaning to, they absorb the chi of the Four Constellations, ancient and powerful Kung Fu warriors: Blue Dragon, Black Tortoise, White Tiger, and Red Phoenix. Each of these spirits seems to be linked to a panda who lacks the opposite quality. Po and his students will have to face a path they don't yet fully understand. The series, created by Elliott Owen, airs on Prime Video and features Mick Wingert as the voice of Po.

Trivia about Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny

In 2018, producer Mitch Watson confirmed that Mick Wingert would reprise the role of Po that he had already played in Legends of Awesomeness.

The series is the second television series in the Kung Fu Panda franchise, after Legends of Awesomeness, and was produced by DreamWorks Animation Television.

The reception was largely positive, from both audiences and specialized critics, who praised the quality of the animation and its colorful setting.

Development of the series began in September 2015, and production started fifteen months later, with a team of about 50 people spread across Glendale, Canada, and India.

The animation is almost entirely 3D, although each episode usually includes between 30 and 45 seconds of 2D-generated footage.

Elliott Owen explained that the team used Maya, V-Ray, Mari, Nuke, and Houdini, along with several custom DreamWorks tools for lighting, effects, and rigging.

The series won the Kidscreen Award for Best New Series and received nominations at the Annie Awards for Best Animated Television Production for Children and at the Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Directing in an Animated Program.

Although it was presented as a second season, the continuation released on July 5, 2019 was the second and final part of the series.
