Synopsis of Silicon Valley

Richard Hendricks is a shy programmer who works at Hooli, a major tech company based in Silicon Valley. Trivia about Silicon Valley

Mike Judge worked as a programmer at Parallax Graphics in 1987, a company of about 40 employees, and left after less than three months. That experience gave him the background for creating the series.
The idea behind Pied Piper is inspired by real attempts to build a decentralized web by the company MaidSafe, whose members advised the series.
The Weissman score, a metric used to compare the compression rates of applications, did not exist before the series. It was created by Stanford professor Tsachy Weissman and graduate student Vinith Misra.
Elon Musk criticized the first episode because, in his view, Mike Judge had never been to Burning Man. He changed his mind about the series with the episodes that followed.
In talks, Douglas Crockford has called the series «the best show ever made about programming», and to illustrate this he cites the episode «Bachmanity Insanity».
The theme music for each season is a sample of «Stretch Your Face» by the band Tobacco.
In January 2017, Bill Gates recalled in a meeting with Warren Buffett that one episode reminded him of his own experiences looking for investors. He later made a cameo in the series finale.
Mike Judge had Thomas Middleditch in mind for the role of Richard Hendricks while he was writing it, but the actor had to audition like the rest of the cast.
