Synopsis of The Powerpuff Girls

In the fictional city of Townsville, USA, live Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup, three preschool-aged girls with superpowers. They are the Powerpuff Girls, and they live with Professor Utonium, a scientist who created them. When a villain threatens the city, the mayor calls on them to fight back, and they use their powers against criminals and giant monsters. Their arch-nemesis, Mojo Jojo, often relies on robots or weapons to try to take over Townsville. In between battles, they return to their normal little-girl lives, because their motto sums it up: save the world before bedtime. Created by Craig McCracken and aired on Cartoon Network, the series follows the three sisters on each of their missions.

Trivia about The Powerpuff Girls

Cartoon Network executives would not let McCracken promote the series with the word "ass," so two friends separately proposed the name "Powerpuff."
Cartoon Network executives suggested changing the girls' names to Pink, Blue and Green, because they had trouble telling them apart as Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup.
In August 1999, the series earned a Nielsen rating of 6.9 among kids aged 6 to 11, reaching 987,000 children, the highest figure for Cartoon Network in that age group.
The character Him, who was originally a personification of the Devil, ended up as a tribute to the Blue Meanies from Yellow Submarine, with a vague identity.
In 2002, TV Guide ranked the Powerpuff Girls thirteenth on its list of the "50 Greatest Cartoon Characters of All Time."
The episode "See Me, Feel Me, Gnomey," a rock opera, never aired in the United States because some of its elements seemed to make controversial religious and political statements.
The original series produced 78 episodes over six seasons and won two Primetime Emmy Awards, as well as nine Annie Award nominations.
In 2022, a new animated version was announced, developed by Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe with Craig McCracken at the helm, but the sources consulted do not give a premiere date or cast.
