Synopsis of ThunderCats

On the Third Planet, the kingdom of Thundera has thrived for generations under the rule of King Claudus. His son and heir, Lion-O, is a wayward prince fascinated by ancient stories about technology and space travel. He is about to receive the Sword of Omens in a royal handover ceremony, but when he lies about the vision revealed by the Eye of Thundera, driven by his insecurities, his father disappointedly takes the sword away and declares he is not ready to rule. Created by Theodore Walter Wolf and aired on Cartoon Network, the series begins one night when the army of lizards led by the sorcerer Mumm-Ra attacks the kingdom.

Trivia about ThunderCats

The series was originally planned for 52 episodes, but it was canceled after a single season, as art director Dan Norton confirmed in early 2013.
In a 2017 interview, Dan Norton revealed that LEGO had worked on a toy line for the series. After the cancellation, its prototypes were eventually turned into LEGO Legends of Chima.
Kevin Kliesch composed the score drawing on John Williams, James Horner and Jerry Goldsmith, among others, and blended the orchestra with electronic elements.
The premiere drew a 0.8 rating and more than 2.4 million viewers, compared with 1.1 for the most-watched show that same night.
Brian Lowry of Variety felt the series was designed as a commercial vehicle for a new toy line.
The series was initially ordered for 52 episodes, but only 26 were produced. Cartoon Network aired the remaining episodes with a months-long break between blocks and never formally announced the cancellation.
Larry Kenney, who had voiced Lion-O in the original 1985 series, voiced the character's father in this 2011 version.
Studio 4°C was tasked with rebuilding Thundera with an anime-influenced look and a serialized approach, while Michael Jelenic and Todd Casey led the writers' room.
