Childhood's End

In a distant future, amid ruins, Milo Rodericks, an astrophysicist who presents himself as the last of mankind, records a video while a metallic sphere floats around him. From that present, the series rewinds to the years when the Overlords arrived on Earth without using force. Their ships appeared in the skies and gently brought down all aircraft. The visitors never showed themselves in person. Each person or group was sent a projection of a deceased loved one, along with a message from Karellen, the planet's supervisor. Humanity must coexist with a presence that promises order and peace, without yet knowing what it intends. The miniseries, created by Matthew Graham and aired on Syfy, explores how the world reacts to neighbors who change everything without firing a single shot.
