Synopsis of Pennyworth: The Origin of Batman's Butler
Alfred Pennyworth, a former British SAS soldier, is the star of this series that goes back to his younger years, long before the events of Gotham. Set in an alternate-history London in the mid-1960s, where the country is locked in a modern civil war and public executions are broadcast on television, the story follows Alfred as he tries to make his way by founding his own security firm in a turbulent city. His life crosses paths with Thomas Wayne, a young American millionaire who hires him after seeing his skills. Created by Bruno Heller and aired on Epix, the series shows how a penniless ex-soldier becomes the trusted right-hand man of one of Gotham's most powerful families.
