Synopsis of The Mask: Animated Series

Stanley Ipkiss is an insecure bank teller who is often belittled and humiliated by others and frequently finds himself in situations he would rather avoid. To cope with his life, he turns to an ancient mask that gives whoever wears it superpowers based on their personality and way of thinking. His alter ego, The Mask, is a prankster who loves to party but who, nonetheless, stands up for what he cares about when someone threatens him. Most episodes have the protagonist defeat a villain who sows chaos. Created by Steve Roberts, Alex Van and Dean Stefan, the series aired on CBS and stars Rob Paulsen, Frank Welker and Tim Curry, among others.

Trivia about The Mask: Animated Series

The series spawned its own short-lived comic book series, Adventures of The Mask.
The Mask was one of three animated series based on Jim Carrey movies that premiered the same year, alongside Ace Ventura and Dumb and Dumber.
John Arcudi, a former writer on the original comic strips, wrote two episodes of the series.
After being canceled, the series moved from CBS Kids, where it aired Saturday mornings, to Cartoon Network.
In the episode "Martian Mask," The Mask references the Mexican show El Chapulín Colorado, but only in the Latin American dub.
In India, some characters were renamed: Stanley Ipkiss became Sachin Sapnis, and The Mask became Nakaab.
For a time, the Taco Bell restaurant chain distributed toys based on the series across the United States, during 1997.
The first complete season was released digitally in July 2024 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the original movie; the series had three seasons and 54 episodes.
