Synopsis of Happy Days

Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in the 1950s. Richie Cunningham is a teenager who lives with his parents, Howard and Marion, and his younger sister, Joanie. Howard runs a hardware store and Marion keeps the household running, and both try to help Richie grow up without losing his way. The boy shares a school and a group of friends with his buddies, and his days are full of doubts about love, the future and what is expected of him. The arrival of Arthur Fonzarelli, Fonzie, a leather-jacketed motorcycle mechanic who dropped out of school, shakes up the neighborhood. The series, created by Garry Marshall and broadcast on ABC, portrays the dilemmas of this family and their friends with a nostalgic look at life in that era.

«Those were the days of the 1950's...filled with innocence and the promise of even better days to come.»

Trivia about Happy Days

George Lucas watched the pilot in 1972 and immediately signed Ron Howard for American Graffiti, one of the highest-grossing movies of 1973.
The series ended the 1976–77 season in first place in the ratings and ended the five-year reign of All in the Family in the Nielsen rankings.
In 1980, the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History asked Henry Winkler to donate one of Fonzie's leather jackets.
Robin Williams made their on-screen debut in 1978 as Mork in the episode "My Favorite Orkan," and the network signed them to a contract four days later.
Out of the Blue, from 1979, is a spin-off of Happy Days, although a programming error caused it to air before the main character was introduced.
The first assistant director died the night before filming began, so the crew shot all 18 episodes of the first season back to back without a break.
During its first two seasons, the show was filmed with a single camera. From the third season on, it switched to multiple cameras and a live audience, a change linked to a rise in ratings.
Henry Winkler won the Golden Globe for Best Actor – Television Series Musical or Comedy in 1978 for playing Fonzie.
