Trivia about The Night Shift

In August 2012, NBC decided to revise the pilot script, which was then titled The Last Stand. Before settling on its final title, the project went through several other names.

On April 18, 2013, NBC ordered four additional scripts under a third and final title, The Night Shift. That was the name under which the network ordered the series on May 10, 2013.

Filming for the first season began in late August 2013 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and wrapped in mid-November.

Brian Lowry of Variety wrote that the series remained a creatively very weak phenomenon. David Hinckley of the New York Daily News gave it three out of five stars.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the first season earned an approval rating of 17% based on 23 reviews, with an average score of 4.18 out of 10.

The fourth season averaged 3.96 million viewers and a 0.66 rating among adults aged 18 to 49, down 21% and 32% from the previous season, respectively.
