Synopsis of Home Improvement

The Taylor family lives on the outskirts of Detroit. Tim Taylor, known as the Tool Man, is a handyman who hosts Home Improvement, a do-it-yourself and home renovation show sponsored by Binford. In front of the cameras he seems to know what he's doing, but at home his inability to finish his projects well leads to hilarious situations. He is joined by his wife, Jill, and their three sons, Brad, Randy and Mark, while neighbor Wilson watches every botched job from the other side of the fence. The comedy follows the daily life of this middle-class American family, with Tim Allen as the star. Created by Carmen Finestra, Matt Williams and David McFadzean, it airs on ABC.

Trivia about Home Improvement

Patricia Richardson was offered $25 million to film a ninth season, and Tim Allen, $50 million. Both turned down the offer, and the show ended.

By 1996, the series had generated more than $500 million in syndication revenue, a figure few sitcoms of the era reached.

For most of its run on ABC, it was the network's number one comedy.

In 2003, Tim Allen, Richard Karn and Debbe Dunning reunited on the Tim Allen presents: A User's Guide to Home Improvement special, featuring a collection of favorite moments.
