Synopsis of Crossing Jordan

Jordan Cavanaugh is a sharp, impatient forensic pathologist from Boston who works at the city's Medical Examiner's Office. After a season away from home, she returns to her old job under Garret Macy, the chief medical examiner, who has to deal with her eccentricities. Although she isn't allowed to work on police cases, Jordan relies on her father Max's reputation as a former detective and her charisma to win people over and get to the truth of every case that lands on her table. Max is still obsessed with the unsolved murder of his wife, and that memory weighs on the medical examiner, who empathizes with the victims she examines. Created by Tim Kring, the series airs on NBC and stars Jill Hennessy.

Trivia about Crossing Jordan

Eric Rigler's bagpipes and flutes can be heard in most episodes, and the duo Wendy and Lisa composed the series' music.
In season one, Jill Hennessy was the only cast member credited in the opening titles, with an Irish version of a traditional tune.
Crossing Jordan shares a fictional universe with Las Vegas, another NBC series, and Jerry O'Connell appeared in five episodes of the latter.
The series went on hiatus for much of season 2003-2004 to accommodate the pregnancy of Jill Hennessy, and returned on March 9, 2004 with 13 episodes.
The premiere of season six was postponed to air 1 vs. 100, a game show hosted by Bob Saget.
The series won the ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) Award for Top Television Series in 2003, 2004, and 2005.
In January 2021, The Roku Channel made all episodes of the series available to stream in the United States.
Tim Kring was initially reluctant to cast Jill Hennessy as Jordan Cavanaugh because he knew her only from her roles as a serious prosecutor in "Law & Order" and as Jacqueline Kennedy in "Jackie, Ethel, Joan: The Women of Camelot."
