Synopsis of Caprica

Caprica is set in the Twelve Colonies of Kobol, which live in peace and prosperity, 58 years before the events of Battlestar Galactica. The story centers on the city of Caprica, the seat of government and the hub of the colonies' culture, art and science. Joseph Adama, a lawyer with ties to the criminal world, and Daniel Graystone, a wealthy technologist heading the corporation Greystone Industries, are the two leads. Both have lost a family member in an act of terrorism. Consumed by grief and obsession, Daniel wants to bring his daughter back to life and risks his fortune and his company to do so. The series pits the two families against each other over the resurrection of their loved ones and raises the ethical consequences of advances in artificial intelligence and robotics. Created by Ronald D. Moore and Remi Aubuchon, it airs on Syfy and stars Eric Stoltz and Esai Morales.

Trivia about Caprica

Eric Stoltz left the script in his hotel room without reading it for several days. When a maid, bribed by a Battlestar fan, stole it, he realized how passionate the fans were and decided to read it.
Screenwriter Remi Aubuchon pitched Universal Pictures a movie about artificial intelligence in early 2006, not knowing that Moore and Eick were already considering a prequel to Battlestar Galactica. Universal turned it down as a film.
The network refused to order another series with a very heavy arc plot, and Caprica was stuck in development hell for a while.
Several structures from Dubai's financial district were digitally added to the footage of Caprica City to enhance its futuristic look, including the Emirates Towers, the Khalifa Tower and the Dubai Metro.
The series had modest ratings, peaking at 1.6 million viewers for the mid-season finale.
Ken Tucker of Entertainment Weekly included Caprica among "One of the 10 Best Shows on Now" in March 2010.
Syfy canceled "Caprica" on October 27, 2010, before the end of its first season, and pulled the five remaining episodes from the schedule before rerunning them later.
